Why is the radiologist bill separate from the hospital or clinic bill?

The bill you receive from the hospital or clinic is the technical charge for the x-ray technologist, the cost of supplies, and the use of the facilities and equipment.

The bill you receive from the radiologist is for the professional services rendered by the radiologist. This includes consultation with your physician, interpretation of the films, and supervision of the x-ray examination. A written report is furnished for the permanent hospital or clinic record and your personal physician.
